I often see faces and figures lying dormant in the landscapes around me. These could represent an assertion of a lingering human presence, perhaps in a state of spiritual hibernation, even in the most forbidding environments. The images call into question an assumption that the physical and spiritual realms are mutually exclusive. In addition, some of these images have to do with the fragmentation and fragility of the self. In some cases, the physical self can be seen merging and fragmenting within the landscape; in others, it can be seen as struggling to emerge from it.

Remnants of Identity continues my exploration of the relatiionship between the physical and non physical realms, that I’ve dealt with in my past projects: Ephemeral Beings and False Idols.
